1996 Mercedes S600 V12 needs new headers and catalytic converter

Hi, I have a 1996 Mercedes S600 with a v12, my headers are leaking + a hole in the cat. I looked on arb.ca.gov and could not find anything on my car, and as anyone with common sense should know I can't throw parts made for other cars onto mine, since I couldn't find anything I was thinking of going custom. I also noticed that OEM parts cots $5000-$10000 which I do not have, what can I do?

Answer:

OEM parts are not necessary. You can use aftermarket parts as long as they have an EO number. We were able to find an aftermarket CAT for this 1996 Mercedes S600, but unable to find headers. You may want to contact the state Smog Check Referees office (800) 622-7733 for a "Limited Parts Exemption" or to file for a one-time only "Economic Hardship Exemption".
