Just Purchased 1997 Ford Mustang From Tow Yard

I just bought a 1997 Ford Mustang from a tow yard. Does the paper work need to be started with the DMV before I can get a smog check, because the car only came with the paperwork from tow company.

No DMV paperwork will be needed in order to get a smog check for your Ford Mustang. Just drive in to any smog check station and ask for a Smog Check for "Title Transfer". They should be able to smog check your car and send the smog check results (certificate) to the DMV electronically.
