ABS Dash Light Illuminates Sometimes - 1993 Chevy Van G20

The check engine, or service engine soon light on my 1993 Chevy Van G20 works fine. I had a recent brake repair and now have my yellow ABS dash light illuminated sometimes... off and on. The brake shop said don't worry about it. Since this is not relevant to a test of my "emissions" will this cause my 1993 Van to fail a smog test?

Answer:

Inspection of the ABS light is not part of the smog inspection process and its illumination will not cause your 1993 Chevy G20 Van to fail the smog check. Unless your Chevy Van is deemed unsafe to drive (on the dynamometer) by the smog technician because of the reason the ABS light is on, you should not have a problem having a smog check administered; and passing the smog check if all emissions systems are ok. posted by SmogTips Support
