2001 Corvette Z06 with Headers and Motor Upgrades

I'm planning on purchasing a 2001 Corvette Z06 with headers, catalytic converters and some motor upgrades from out of state. It recently passed Il emissions test, will this car likely pass the California smog inspection as well?

Answer:

A used 49-state emissions legal vehicle which is equipped with the required federal emissions components (components originally installed at the factory) can pass a California smog inspection if its exhaust emissions fall below California emission cutscores.

In this particular case the concern would be regarding the engine upgrades. All California LEGAL engine upgrade components must be approved by the California Air Resources Board and must have been issued an Executive Order (EO) number. We recommend searching the CARB Aftermarket Components site to find out whether the upgrade components this particular Chevy Corvette has installed are California legal. You will need to contact the seller and inquire on each individual upgraded emissions part, this includes the CATs, headers, and other engine upgrades.
