2012 Audi A3 TDI 2.0L Diesel with Federal Emission

I live in California and I'm looking to buy a used (27K mi) 2012 Audi A3 Diesel car with Federal emission standards from New Jersey. Will I have problems with CA registration or obtaining a smog certification, assuming it will pass? I would like to know if a Federal emission optioned diesel car, 1st sold and registered in NJ, will have issues meeting CA DMV and smog requirements. Thank you.

The 2012 Audi A3 you intend on purchasing will pass the California smog check if its exhaust emissions fall below California's Emission Cut Scores and its Federal emission components have not been tampered with. California law indicates a USED out-of-state vehicle (49-state emissions legal) which is equipped with the required Federal Emission Components (smog components originally installed by the manufacturer or OEM parts) is eligible for California registration as long as the vehicle's exhaust emissions fall within California's limits. posted by SmogTips Support
