Buying a Geo Tracker From Out-of-State

I'm buying a car Geo Tracker from New Mexico and I would like to know what the difference is with the smog check in California. The car passed the smog test in New Mexico. The owner moved to California and had a stroke before registering it. Now she is selling it to me.

The rule is any USED vehicle which is equipped with the necessary Federal Emission Components is eligible for California registration as long as the vehicle's exhaust emissions fall within California's limits and the vehicle's emission system has not been tampered with. posted by SmogTips Support
