Does a 2002 Dodge RAM 2500 with diesel engine need a catalytic converter?

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram Truck 2500 Cummins 5.9 Diesel. Do I need a catalytic converter (CAT) on this truck?

Unless your Dodge was manufactured for import to California, (in other words it is California legal and not 49-state legal; check your emissions decal under the hood) more then likely it was never equipped with a catalytic converter.
