If I smog every two years and register my Ford F-150 truck every year and it passes...can I legally refuse to be stopped at a roadside smog check on the side of the road in California?
Answer:
The California Roadside Emissions Test is a voluntary program. You have the right to refuse to participate for any reason, not necessarily that your Ford F-150 has been passing the smog check regularly. There is no "passing" or "failing" the roadside emissions test. Your vehicles results are used by the State for developing a profile of the vehicles on California's roads. At the end of the roadside test you are given a Vehicle Inspection Report which provides important information about your vehicle.
