Ford Explorer Needs Smog Check 2 Years in a Row, Why?

Why would my 2000 Ford explorer need a smog check 2 years in a row. I got a smog last year.

I had an upper intake leak causing my MIL light to come on. I got the leak fixed and had my vehcile smogged last year. Now to register my Ford Explorer the DMV is now requiring a smog certificate again. Why?

Answer:

You will need to contact the DMV at (800) 777-0133. If it is true that they are requiring a second smog check by mistake you'll need to get in touch with the State Referee's Office for a waiver. You can reach the State Referee's Office at (800) 622-7733.

Our only explanation of why your Ford Explorer would need a smog check two years in a row is that possibly you purchased this Ford Explorer last year and obtained a smog check for title transfer purposes, and this year the Ford's regular biennial smog check is due. If this is not the case please contact the DMV first and then the Referee's Office.
