Can you tell me what smog parts or smog components are required to smog check a 1996 Chevy Pickup K1500 engine. I inherited this engine when my dad passed in AZ. I need to replace the engine in my truck that has a rod knocking.
Answer:
According to the Mitchell Emissions Application Guide at 1996 Chevy 350 engine installed in a truck requires the following emission components:
Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV)
Exhaust Recirculation Valve (EGR)
EVAP System (Charcoal Canister and to/from gas tank vapor hoses)
Catalytic Converter (2 TWC Type Converters)
Oxygen Sensors (4 O2 Sensors)
Electronic Spark Advance
There is no indication that a AIR Pump or Air Injection System is required.
