Smog Parts 1976 Chevy Camaro 5.7 Liter 350 Motor and Automatic Transmission

What smog equipment came on a 1976 Camaro with AC, auto tranny, and a 350 motor? I am building a new motor for my Camaro and don't know which emission components to pick up from the junk yard.

Answer:

A 1974 to 1979 Chevy Camaro is required to be equipped with the following emission components:

PCV - Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV)

ACL - Preheat Tube or Duct

AIS - Air Injection System & Smog Pump (California Emissions Only)

EGR - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve

EVAP - EVAP System (Evaporation Control)

CAT - Type OC. One catalytic converter.

DI/HEI Ignition - HEI system uses a control module and a magnetic pickup mounted in the distributor. There is no use of ignition points. The control module performs the duties of the breaker points in a points and condenser system.

Note the Smog Pump system only applies to Chevy Camaro models built to California emission requirements.
