2001 Chevy S10 Aftermarket Air Cleaner Installation

Hi. I have a 2001 chevy S10 that I am doing a motor swap on. It had a 4.3L and I am putting a 5.3L in it. I have talked to a smog check referee rep and they already told me it was fine as long as it was a larger and same year or newer motor. The 5.3L engine I installed is out of a 2002 Chevy Suburban. My simple question at this time is to inquire if it is okay for me to install an aftermarket intake cleaner that is California emission legal with a CARB stamp! Thank you, Mike.

Answer:

As long as the aftermarket air intake cleaner is CARB approved (with EO number) for use in a 2002 5.3L Chevy engine you should be fine with passing the smog check. Remember all emission components from this point on must conform to 2002 5.3L Chevy engine standards. posted by SmogTips Support
