1994 Ford Explorer Registered in Smog Exempt County

I'm buying a used Ford Explorer in Walnut Creek Ca, and I live in Amador County a smog exempt county can I have the smog check performed in Amador County for Transfer of Title or do I have to do it in Walnut Creek CA? Thank you.

Answer:

In a smog exempt county a smog check is required when buying (or selling) a vehicle. Vehicles registered in smog exempt counties are exempt from biennial smog check requirements. You should have your vehicle's smog check in the county in which you plan on registering it. posted by SmogTips Support
