Retire 1984 Chevy Van to the State of California

My 1984 Chevy Van failed the smog check and can not be registered. I can not afford to get it fixed and get registered. What can I do with this? Thank you.

Answer:

It is very important that you don't let the DMV registration renewal for your Chevy van to lapse more than 90 days; or else you will not be eligible to turn in the van to the State of California and get money for it.

The vehicle buy back program will pay $1500.00 for your van (condition do apply) if you are low income, and $1000.00 flat if you are not. Again, it is important to get approval from the state before the van's registration has expired over 90 days.
