Oldsmobile Intrigue Engine Light Automatic Fail?

I want to retire my Oldsmobile Intrigue. It has more problems than it's worth. The check engine light is on for who knows why of the many possible reasons. If I take it to get a smog check, will they abort the smog because the check engine light is on or will it be a true fail? The CA vehicle retirement program won't accept an aborted smog test.

The smog station will complete the smog check for your Oldsmobile Intrigue with the check engine light on, and ultimately your Olds will fail the smog check. In case you run into a smog station which refuses to smog test your car because the check engine light is on (usually the smog technician will do this so you don't lose money on the smog test, because they know the vehicle will fail) tell them you are getting a smog check (and need it to fail) because you are apply for the vehicle retirement program. posted by SmogTips Support
