2006 VW GTI Turbo Bringing In To California

I'm bringing my Volkswagen GTI in from PA. It's in outstanding condition. The sticker on the door states that it passes "federal emissions" standards. Do you think there will be an issue with me passing a smog test for registration? Thanks!

Answer:

There is a difference with California legal and Federal legal emission requirements. However if your Volkswagen GTI is equipped with all the Federal required emission components (which it appears it is since it's Emission Label indicates it's Federal Legal) it can pass the California smog check, and obtain California registration.

The rule is any used vehicle which is equipped with the necessary Federal Emission Components is eligible for California registration as long as the vehicle's exhaust emissions fall within California's limits and the vehicle's emission system has not been tampered with.
