Chevy Bounder Motorhome 454 Missing AIR Injection

My 1991 Chevy Bounder 454 ci engine motor home does not have an air injection system. I am the original owner and have never failed a smog test. Recently I failed because the smog technician said my RV was missing the complete air injection system.

Can you tell me based on information provided what documents show that my motor home is missing the air injection system, and where does it indicate that an AIS is required; as the emissions label shows Evaporative Emission Family MGMO80.OGAA9. VIN 1gbkp37nomxxxxxxx

All the work done on this motorhome was completed by licensed mechanics. I have never in 24 years been advised of any missing smog parts. Thank You. - Chuck.

According to the VIN you've provided this motorhome shows up as a P30 class/chassis motorhome with 7.4 454 ci engine. Per the MOTOR Emissions Application Guide this engine should be equipped with an AIR Injection System (pump type). You may visit http://www.vindecoder.net/ to lookup the VIN number. If you are 100% certain your motorhome has never had an air injection system as it left the factory, we recommend contacting the State Smog Check Referee's Office at (800) 622-7733 for an inspection. If they are able to verify that this particular model of the 1991 Fleetwood Bounder Motorhome w/ Chevy 454 was never equipped with an air injection system (for whatever reason) they may be able to reclassify this motorhomes engine class so that subsequent smog check will not require an installed AIS,at best offer you a one time smog check waiver until you are able to bring this motorhome up to emissions code. posted by SmogTips Support
