1987 Mitsubishi Galant Applying to CAP Repair

I received my DMV Renewal with Star Station Smog check required for my Mitsubishi Galant. If my car needs repairs to pass the smog test, should I apply for the CAP repair assistance now, or have my car tested first?

Before applying to the CAP Smog Check Repair Assistance your Mitsubishi Galant must have failed the smog check. Obtain a smog inspection at a STAR certified smog center and then apply for the CAP program. posted by SmogTips Support
