2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Failed Smog Test

My Mitsubishi Lancer failed the smog test even after I spent about $500 to have it fixed by the Mitsubishi dealer. I was told to buy a $2100 computer at the dealer to get my car to pass the smog check. Please help.

Answer:

Unfortunately there is no limit on how much money you must spend in order to get your Mitsubishi Lancer to pass the smog check, but there is help. The CAP program can pay up to $500.00 towards emission related repairs, and after that, if your Mitsubishi still fails the smog test and you've spent over $650.00 total, you may be eligible for a one time two year smog check waiver through the State Smog Check Referee's Office

The CAP Repair Assistance program is designed to help consumers bring their vehicles into compliance with California emission standards. Through the CAP program the State will pay the CAP repair shop you choose up to $500.00 dollars for repair work performed on your vehicle.
