Swapping 1996 Camaro Engine V6 with 1970 Camaro Engine V8

I have a 1996 Camaro with a V6 factory motor. I want to put a V8 from a 1970 Chevy Camaro. What do I need to do as far as the emissions so that it will pass a smog check. Can I put in a early model pre-1970 Chevy 350 with carburetor if my Camaro came with a V6 fuel injected engine?

California state and US federal emissions anti-tampering laws generally prohibit any modification to the vehicle's original emission control system configuration as certified by the manufacturer. And, Section 3362.1 of the California Code of Regulations prohibits any engine change that degrades the effectiveness of a vehicle's emission control system. In this particular case the fuel injected engine is considered a more efficient engine design than its carburated counter part. You will more than likely be unable to complete this engine swap and obtain a smog inspection.
