2000 Mazda MPV 2.5L LX failed smog test because of check engine light being on.
2000 Mazda MPV 2.5L failed smog test due to check engine light on. Had 2 codes. Map sensor and transmission shift indicator out of range. Found broken vacum hose to MAP sensor and repaired. Ok now. But unable to get engine light out due to trans shift indicator in dash. Car shifts good and runs good. Priced cluster assembly it's 1000 dollars what do you suggest this customer do! Answer:
Not much you can do but get the transmission repaired on your Mazda MPV.
Unfortunately this transmission problem can lead to increased emissions as
far as the state is concerned, even though your Mazda drives just fine. The
only way to get rid of the P0708 is to get the transmission shift solenoid
and/or sensor replaced.
