Time required for smog check repair. 1992, Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera.
How long should it take a smog check repair shop to perform the necessary repairs? I spoke with a shop today, and they told me the earliest they could schedule an appointment was August 31st, and I would then have to leave the vehicle at the shop for 3-5 days. My firs test report shows the one that failed. Why should it take so long to repair one time? Is this typical? Answer:
Sounds like the smog repair station you want to take your Oldsmobile Cutlass
Ciera to is a very busy shop. The repairs your Cutlass may require could
take 3 to 5 days. This is normal. Smog repairs do take time because of the
diagnosis and continuous retesting involved as repairs are being made. The
one thing I think that is a bit odd is that they can't take in your
Oldsmobile until the end of the month. This to me indicates one of two
things... Either they are really busy and can not accommodate your vehicle,
or they simply don't want to work on your car for whatever reason. Follow
your gut instinct. If needed find another smog certified repair shop that's
more eager to have your business. But if they are really busy, then there is
a reason behind it; they are probably great mechanics.
