2007 Honda Odyssey - Is a catalytic converter necessary to pass California smog check?
2007 Honda Odyssey. Is a catalytic converter necessary to pass California smog check? Mine not broken but rattles cuz bolt is warped. Mechanic said costly to replace bolt or screw. Answer:
The CAT or Catalytic Converter is absolutely required to pass the smog test.
Not having it installed on your Honda Odyssey will require the smog
technician mark the CAT as missing on the smog inspection; causing your
Odyssey to fail the smog check.
We have a suggestion... Your vehicle is fairly new and unless you caused the
bolt to warp we'd recommend you contact the dealership and find out what
caused this problem. Your vehicle is still under federal emissions warranty
guaranteeing it from emissions defects for 5 years. Contact the Honda
dealership on this matter. There may be a repair bulletin if this is a
common problem, and they may fix your Honda Odyssey's CAT problem from free.
