Ford Cobra Intake Manifold Runner Control

My Ford Cobra passed the emissions part of the smog test but failed the OBD systems check. My mechanic found that the Intake Manifold Runner Control was stuck in the Open position. This is causing the check engine light to stay on, so I can't obtain my registration tag from the DMV. Ford no longer makes the replacement part. No dealers have it. None of the online parts wholesalers have it. No wrecking yards, etc. I've checked everywhere. The car runs fine and is very roadworthy. The car is roadworthy in every other respect. What are my options? I am retired on Social security and this is my only vehicle.

The State's Part Locator might be able to help you find a Intake Manifold Runner Control for your Ford Mustang Cobra in order to bring it into compliance with state law. If they are unable to find you a new or used IMRC and find that that is the only reason your Mustang is failing the smog test, they may be able to issue you a "Limited Parts Exemption".
