Smog technician entered Nissan 240sx on smog certificate instead of Nissan 300xz. Will the DMV accept this?
The smog tech put the vehicle wrong model (Nissan 240sx instead of Nissan 300zx) on my smog certificate. Will the dmv accept it? Is the technician responsible for re-issuing a new certificate? Will I have to pay again? Answer:
The DMV will not be concerned with the vehicle's model so long as the VIN
(vehicle identification number) was entered correctly. If you are really
concerned you may return to the smog station and advise the smog technician.
They will need to perform a new smog check (they can not simply change the
information in the computer) and re-issue a smog certificate. They should
not charge for their mistake. Once again however, the DMV will not be
concerned with the error; only that your vehicle with the correct license
plate number and VIN was issued a smog check certificate.
