1996 Dodge Grand Caravan needs a new radiator. Will it affect the smog check?

If my car (Dodge Caravan) is overheating because I need to replace my radiator, will it pass smog test?
Answer:

The leaking radiator will not cause a smog check failure however it may cause the smog technician to refuse to smog check your 1996 Dodge Caravan because of safety reasons. Radiator fluid from your Dodge leaking on the dynamometer will be a concern. Secondly, if the smog technician chooses to smog inspect your Dodge caravan with a leaking radiator consider that the leaking radiator and overheating problem may cause high NO emissions. NO (NOx) is created when your Dodge Caravan's engine combustion chamber temperatures exceed 2500f. An overheating problem may cause high NO. We have to recommend having your Caravan's radiator repaired before getting a smog test.
