2005 Chevrolet AVEO LS catalytic converter replacement with OEM CAT, is it approved?

My truck's cat has failed and clogged up, a replacement from a dealership is $780 but I have seen after market an aftermarket "OE replacement" for half the price, is this not legal to install on my vehicle? Is there any work around other than paying hundreds more for the same part? can I use a converter off of a different vehicle found at a used parts yard? I'm tight on cash and this is a crazy big difference in price!
Answer:

Ok... You can't use a used CAT from a junk yard (that's illegal) on your Chevy AVEO, but you can definitely install the OEM part with no problem what so ever. The OEM Catalytic converter was made and approved for use on your Chevy and it will pass the smog check with it. No need to have to use the dealer part.
