Forum > Emissions Component > Question

I have a 1990 Chevrolet 2500 without a smog pump.

The truck is from Florida I'm trying to smog it in California. The truck came with no smog pump. So my question is what smog components are needed to pass smog?
Answer:

It's true, there is a difference with California legal and Federal legal emission requirements. And, for the most part California is stricter. However, if your Chevy truck was originally equipped from the factory without a smog pump it can pass the California smog inspection process without it. It is true that California vehicles have different, and in some cases more, emission components then Federal cars, but this does not mean that these cars can't be registered in California. A vehicle which is equipped with the necessary Federal Emission Components (such as in this case) is eligible for California registration as long as the vehicle's emissions limits fall under California's limits.
