2001 Toyota Sienna with a v-6. The check engine light came on for EVAP system failure.

My Toyota's trouble code shows EVAP system problem. What should I check do reslove this issue. And if I fix it will the light go off, or will I need to have it reset?

The question is which part of the EVAP system has the defect? EVAP codes have been known to be triggered by something as simple as a loose gas cap. We'd recommend looking into the details of the trouble code. Specific codes indicate EVAP sensor problems, vapor leaks, general EVAP system troubles, and EVAP vent solenoid circuit problems. So it's important to figure out what the actual code represents. Next... Once the problem is found and fixed, you'll need to reset the Check Engine light (turn it off) by resetting the OBDII computer using your scan tool. Once this is done... You'll need to drive your Toyota about 200 miles in all sorts of traffic conditions, including several start and stops. This will trigger the OBD computer to run the internet tests necessary to set the required emissions "monitors".
