1990 Nissan 300zx California vehicle registration question.

This is a California Registered and smogged car. I'm going to another state for school and will be taking my car there but keeping it registered with California plates. My registration is due in Novemeber and I believe I have to get it smogged this year as well. If i'm leaving next month, should I get it smogged before I go that way I can submit smog in with registration in November or is it unnecessary?
Answer:

The smog certificate you obtain now (for your Nissan) will only be valid for 90 days. By the time your registration comes around, the smog certificate will be expired. Your only option is to complete a statement-of-facts form from the DMV when the time comes around for registration; indicating your vehicle is out-of-state. The registration tags will be mailed to your out-of-state address without the need for a smog check (unless your in Nevada). If in Nevada, you'll have to drive to California and get a smog check.
