2001 Chevy s10 Blazer - When the smog pump run?

Does the smog pump run while the car is running but in the park postion, or does it turn on and off when needed?

Your Chevy Blazer's smog pump (also known as air injection pump) will run as necessary both while the truck is being driven, and also when parked; usually during cold starts.
