I have a 1998 Subaru Forester and the check engine light is on. Will I pass the smog test?

My car runs fine and I had the check engine light checked out and it's just a wire that fell out. Will it fail the smog inspection?
Answer:

The check engine light being on will cause your Subaru to fail the smog check. You should get the fault which is causing the light to remain on fixed prior to getting a smog test. Along with the check engine light being illuminated there are trouble codes within the engine computer which will help the smog technician locate the fault. posted by SmogTips Support
