Forum > Emissions Component > Question

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 V8, upgrades vs passing smog?

Im thinking about upgrading things in the Jeep like intake, and exhaust. But Im worried that by doing so I wont be able to pass smog when needed? Would these kinds of upgrades be for better or make my smog results worst? Thanks
Answer:

Emission upgrade components you can use in California must come with an Executive Order (EO) number. This number will indicate the component(s) is approved for use in California and will not harm emissions. Many high performance emission components will be advertised for sale in California but not for use in California. Insure anything you purchase (especially on-line) comes with a California EO number; the number should be stamped on the unit.
