Out of state 1996 Honda Accord bringing to California.

I have a vehicle, a 1996 Honda Accord. What is needed to get it smog check legal. It is from out of state vehicle. If they do not pass smog requirements what modifications will be needed? It is 49 state legal, what is needed to get the vehicle up to par for California smog laws to get it registered.

No modification is needed to pass the California smog check. So long as your vehicle passes the emissions test, it can be registered in California. No additional smog parts are needed for a used out-of-state vehicle to pass the California smog check so long as its emissions fall below California's emission cutscore. Basicly ensuring your vehicle is running right, has no check engine light on, does not smoke, or smell of strong fuel, should allow it to pass the smog test. posted by SmogTips Support
