Smog pump removal on a 1988 Chevy 1500 pickup truck.
I have a 88 chevy 1500 with a 350cu/in engine with a smog pump bolt broke off in the block that I can't get out with easy out. Can I bypass or remove the smog pump? Answer:
Removing the smog pump, even disconnecting the smog pump, will be considered an emissions tamper; and cause your 1988 Chevy 1500 to fail the smog inspection. One way or another you'll need to ensure the pump is bolted on properly and operating.
Consider drilling a new (smaller) hole through the frozen bolt, and screw in a new bolt instead.
