1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue with failed smog check - Has wrong emission sticker under the hood.

My car failed the test only smog. So I went to the BAR to get financial help to fix it. They informed me to go to a referee and I did. The referee explained to me the sticker under the hood used to be federal and now it is California. He asked if the car had been worked on. I said yes and he told me to go to the place that did the work. I went there and sure enough they looked into it and admitted they had put on the wrong sticker. He then ordered the correct one and told me he would call me when it came in. I already paid for the smog and now because of this collision repair shop putting on the wrong sticker I have to pay for a second smog. Should the repair shop pay for the 2nd smog or should I have to pay for the wrong sticker being put on? Help...Lynette
Answer:

We'd recommend speaking with the repair shop and explaining your concern. They should have replaced the old emission label with the correct one. There probably isn't a law that says they have to pay for your 2nd smog check, but it might make good business sense for to.
