I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox in Washington DC that needs a California smog check.

I am a student in Washington DC and I have California tags. I received my smog test renewal for California and I want to know, can get the smog check here?. And where can I get it done?
Answer:

Do not obtain a smog inspection for your Equinox in another state; it will not be valid in California. You DO NOT need to bring it back to California in order to complete your registration. Simply fill out and sign DMV's "Statement of Facts" form explaining that your vehicle is in Washington and the registration tags will be mailed to you. You can obtain a "Statement of Facts" form by calling the California DMV at (800)777-0133 or online. Simply search it on Google, you 'll be able to download the PDF file. posted by SmogTips Support
