2007 Pontiac G6 GT - Temporarily living out of state

I AM LIVING AND WORKING IN NEW YORK FOR THE NEXT YEAR AND CAN'T BRING MY CAR 3000 MILES BACK TO CALIF. FOR A SMOG CHECK. IS THERE ANY WAY TO RENEW MY REGITRATION AND GET A N.Y SMOG CHECK? I STILL MAINTAIN A HOME IN CALIFORNIA.
Answer:

Do not obtain a smog inspection for your Pontiac in New York, it will not be valid for California vehicle registration. What you probably realy should do is obtain New York registration, however if you choose not to simply fill out and sign a "California DMV Statement of Facts Form" explaining that your vehicle is out of state and the registration tags will be mailed to wherever the car is currently located. You can obtain a "Statement of Facts" form by calling the California DMV at (800)777-0133 or online at DMV - Vehicle Registration Requirements posted by SmogTips Support
