Smog Check 2008 Toyota Tacoma From Texas

I have a truck with TX plates that I want to register in CA. Can I get it smog checked before I go to DMV?

Yes, absolutely. You can visit any licensed smog check station in California and ask for a smog check for the purpose of initial California registration. They will be able to accommodate you. Your vehicle will only require a "regular" smog check (as opposed to a STAR smog). Any licensed smog station in California can perform the inspection. It should be noted, you'll also be needing a VIN verification. You may want to contact the DMV to make an appointment for this inspection.
